Health insurance
I am a registered provider with most major health insurers, including Bupa, AXA and Vitality. If you are using insurance, there are two options:
You pay me directly and I provide receipts so you can claim the cost back from your insurer.
I invoice your insurer directly, once you have confirmed your cover with them.
Please check with your insurer how many sessions they will authorise and whether they cover the full fee. Any excess is payable by bank transfer. Some insurers authorise a set number of sessions, so we will keep this in mind when we agree your goals for therapy.
Cancellations
At least 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel a session. Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice are charged at the full rate, unless the session can be rearranged by mutual agreement within the same week (the week finishes on a Friday).
If I need to cancel a session, you won’t be charged, and I give plenty of notice of any holiday breaks.
Frequently asked questions
-
I work with adults aged 18 and over, both individually and as couples or intimate partners in relationships of any structure.
-
The free 15-minute consultation call is a good place to start. You can talk through what’s on your mind and ask anything about how I work, without committing to anything.
-
I see clients in person in Haywards Heath, and in London (Wimbledon and Stratford) with limited availability. I also offer secure online sessions via Zoom. Sessions are available during the day, Monday to Friday.
-
The terms overlap. Psychotherapy often works at greater depth and over a longer period, looking at underlying patterns as well as current difficulties. We can talk about what would suit you.
-
I recommend weekly sessions to begin with, as this helps the work develop well. Your session is held at a regular time, as a commitment from both of us. Some people move to fortnightly sessions later on. I can also be flexible for people who work shifts or need a more fluid arrangement, though regularity remains important.
-
I offer both short-term and long-term work. Short-term therapy, often around 6 to 12 sessions, suits a focused issue or a specific goal. Longer-term, open-ended therapy gives room to explore deeper or longstanding patterns. We will talk about what suits you at the start and review it regularly. If you are using health insurance, your insurer may authorise a limited number of sessions, and we will plan with that in mind.
-
Endings are an important part of therapy. Ideally we agree the right time to finish together and plan for it, so there is time to reflect on what has changed. The decision is always yours, and you are free to end whenever you feel you have what you need.
-
Yes, within the limits set out in the BACP Ethical Framework. I discuss my work anonymously with my clinical supervisor. Before we begin, I will send you a contract that explains confidentiality in full, along with my data protection statement and ICO registration details.
-
Relationship therapy works best when each partner is willing to take part, and I check this before we begin. If you would like to explore a relationship on your own, individual therapy may suit you better. We can talk this through on the initial consultation call.
-
Yes. I work with relationships of all structures and with partners of any gender or sexuality.
